Brushed, polished or matt: choosing a tap finish

How each finish looks, wears and cleans — and why matching across a room matters.

Polished chrome

Chrome is the most durable and easiest finish to match across brands. It shows water marks more readily, so it suits bathrooms that are wiped down daily.

Brushed finishes

Brushed nickel, brass and gold hide fingerprints and water spots well. Shades vary between brands, so we recommend choosing taps, showers and accessories from the same range.

Matt black and coloured

Matt finishes make a strong statement. Clean them with a soft cloth and mild soap only — abrasive cleaners can leave shiny patches.
